Coping With Procrastination - Free Essay Example

Most people in todayrs world procrastinate because they want to achieve something that means most to them. Achieving something can be things, such as winning a national championship, finishing a 10-page essay, or passing every class with all Ars. Trying to do at least one of this can lead to a person procrastinating. When someone procrastinates it can cause burnouts, fears, and setbacks. In my opinion, procrastinators do not feel themselves procrastinating, but can feel themselves feeling stressed out over the thing they try to achieve. When a person is burnout they are usually tired, stress, or overwhelmed about the things they are doing. No one wants to be in a position in being burnout because most days they would want to sleep and lay in bed, instead of going out and enjoying life. For example, having 2 days to finish a project that was assigned weeks ago and knew just starting it. Even though they had weeks to finish a project, they will still procrastinate about finishing a project in 2 days. They would start to get stress because they dont know what to do the project on. Not only being stress about the work, they will feel the presentation will be terrible because of little preparation which can hurt you physically and mentally. As Moore, Baker, and Packer stated in their article Overworking yourself for too long without mental and physical relaxation is a sure way to run out of steam(Moore, Baker, Packer 571). In my opinion, fears can be the number one cause when procrastinating. Having fears can be things, such as going to an interview to get a job, or a football team preparing for a championship game. Both of those reason can cause fear in a person in different ways. Starting off with an interview, everyone would like to go into a place and a boss shaking their hand and saying they got the job. Of course that would never be the case people will have some fear when coming in for an interview. For example, people changing multiple outfits to look for a good appreciation or getting nervous because they would not know what to say, can be a cause in having fears. Moore, Baker, and Packer stated, we set standards that are too high and then judge ourselves too critically(Moore, Baker, Packer 571). Just by going into an interview and being yourself can make it easier on getting the job. When preparing for a championship game can be a different fear. Not the fear of being scared but the fear of something that a team have been preparing for since May and would do anything to win. Why is this a reason is procrastinating? Because a team have been practicing for months, 2-3 hours from Monday-Thursday, winning games week by week, and ;finally, with all the hard work they can play in championship. It can be a fear of being the last game of the season and for most people being the last game they will ever play. In the same way, setbacks are another reason for procrastinating. Going back to being burnout and feeling tired, having setbacks can be the same but is different. In my opinion, when being setback it can cause people not to do anything at all or catch up on things that they have not started yet. You will start to forget a thing, such as turning in work, not finishing work, or complete forgetting to even do the work. In my opinion, when a person is setback from something they are usually tired or stress, and just want to take some time off from the work. No one wants to be stress so for that not to happened people will take time of whatever they are doing, and most sometimes it can be a good thing. In closing, most people would like to achieve their goal without being burnout, having fears, or being setback. No one wants to be stressed, tired, or depressed when trying to achieve goal. Moore, Baker, and Packer stated, Learning to balance your time and set realistic expectations for yourself will prevent burnouts(Moore, Baker, and Packer 571). Not only does that quote can prevent burnouts, but it can also prevent fears and setbacks. It can preven t fears and setbacks because when learning to balance your time people start to finish things and have free time. With setting realistic expectations it would make it easier for someone to not be afraid and just doing what they love the most without worrying about someone judges a person.

With this huge step in science the world realized that cloning was no longer the plot of a science fiction movie but rather a realistic look into the future of science and medicine. Have you ever imagined what life would be like if we could eliminate human problems and diseases such as AIDs, cancer and human organ shortages? This is the question that arises when the subject of cloning is brought up and I believe that cloning is the next generation of medicine and can be beneficial to humanity for years to come. One of the strongest reasons to support that cloning is worthwhile to humanity is that it there would be a solution to organ limitation. One of the greatest problems in medicine today is that there has not been enough organs to go around to all of the patients that are in need of them. This in turn creates a lot of unnecessary deaths, and problems for patients. Currently in the U.S. only 2,300 of 40,000 Americans who needed a new heart received one. That means close to 94% of the patients did not receive one and this is only one organ in one country that were talking about. Statistics show that nearly one third of the patients on the waiting list for organs will die and even if they do receive an organ the human body has the tendency to reject organs which can cause serious illness or death. If we cloned human organs we would be eliminating a major killer of humans and if the organ was rejected by the patients body we could simply make another one to suit the patient. This would mean fewer complications, little or no waiting lists and almost no deaths because of organ shortages. Another great reason to clone human cells is that it has the potential to cure diseases. As of now we have not been able to solve the problems in many of the worlds deadliest diseases such as cancer and AIDS. There is also studies that show cloning can be used to stop hereditary diseases by getting rid of defective genes and replacing them with new ones that do not carry the disease. One of the newest advances in the field of cloning is the theory of immortality. Dr. Richard seed one of the leading scientists in the field of cloning says that it can be possible to reverse the aging process by allowing us to set are age back to say 20 or 30. This is possible because when a cell is cloned its age then becomes zero. Therefore older people could have new copies of their old cells implanted into them making them feel as if they were 20 instead of 70. This would allow humans to live to any age they want and they could choose when they want to die. Some people believe that this immoral or unethical, but imagine what life would be like in your elder years when you feel as if you are 20 years old and you don’t have to live with the fear of old age or death. Human cloning is beneficial to our existence on earth. It can help solve the problem of organ limitation, cure diseases and take a step toward immortality. Overall the whole issue of cloning is a great idea and in my opinion has only positive side effects. The oceans, lakes, and streams are constantly polluted by individuals and many industries. These waters must be cleaned up before the costs are way beyond money and the damage way beyond repair. Action to clean up the Earth's precious water supply is long over due. Governments, as well as the individual, in all countries must begin to take action. Plans must be made to rid the waters of pollution, and prevent any further destruction of the one and only source of water that Earth has. Governments need to develop policies and regulations to stop the passage of pollutants into the water. The individual must take their own action. Using products that do not cause harm to the ocean, disposing of harmful products, and pushing the government to take action against water pollution are not only the rights of the individual, but the obligations of the individual. The action taken now will not only make the planet safer and cleaner for the present, but for generations to come. Pros The pros to saving the ocean are far greater than any cons someone might come up with. One of the obvious pros is that cleaning up the ocean means a healthier planet. Contaminating the oceans also contaminates our food supply. Having healthier seafood makes for healthier people. Cleaning up and taking care of the oceans gives people a good place for recreation. The process of cleaning up and monitoring the oceans will provide many new job opportunities. Action to take clean the ocean may sound expensive, but it will be cheaper in the long run. If the world waits to long to take action, then the costs to clean up the ocean could be enormous. Letting the oceans reach dangerous levels of contamination will for sure cost even more money. Cons The biggest con in the struggle to save the ocean is cost. The cost to create action plans for saving the ocean will most definitely be high. Many people might feel that there are more important things to take care of right now. The oceans do not appear to be under immediate threat. The plan to clean up the oceans will also be an inconvenience to many. Industries will have to hire engineers to develop cleaner methods of use and disposal of harmful substances. Cleaner methods of disposal are usually more expensive. Many smaller companies may go out of business due to rising costs of production and disposal. Farmers will have to resort to other chemicals for pesticides and fertilizers that may not be as effective. The farmer may lose money in taking action to prevent runoff. The consumer will probably have to pay more for products that are environmentally sound. The government will have to hire people to enforce the new legislation. 1 European Citizens Europe's citizens are increasingly demanding cleaner water, cleaner water for drinking, cleaner water for bathing, cleaner water as part of their environment, and their local and regional heritage.
